The European PhD Student Competition

The 4th European PhD Student Competition will be held during the Joint EUFEPS – SITELF Meeting on May 27 – 29, 2026, at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. Each EUFEPS Member Society has an opportunity to nominate one PhD student representative in an internal selection process. The results of the selection should be communicated until February 28, 2026, to youngsectioncommittee@eufeps.org.

This event aims to recognize and encourage scientific excellence among the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists by providing an opportunity to present their work to an international audience. All contestants are granted free registration to the EUFEPS Annual Meeting (travel and accommodation costs are not included), while the top three candidates receive prizes of 1000, 750, and 500 EUR.

The candidates should be at least in the 3rd year of their PhD program and need to be PhD students on the day of the national selection, but they may defend their thesis before the Annual Meeting. To apply, candidates must provide a short CV, a summary of their research and a graphical abstract, as well as follow the specific requirements set by their national EUFEPS Member Society.

The competition itself consists of a 5 min flash talk, followed by a 2 min discussion with the jury. The winners are selected based on the presentation (quality of the slides and the graphical abstract, timing, clarity), originality of the research (application of novel methodologies, impact of the results), and quality of the discussion (successful communication of the overarching goals and contextualisation of the research).

We are looking forward to another exciting competition!
