One important and clear
objective of EUFEPS is to interact with the pharmaceutical industry,
thereby strengthening the pharmaceutical sciences and scientists
to enhance innovative drug research and development in Europe.
To help on this, a EUFEPS Committee on Industrial Relations (CIR)
has been established, acting as a think-tank for the EUFEPS Executive
Committee. This is to make sure that EUFEPS activities to
advance the pharmaceutical sciences will interact not only with
the academia but also with current needs in the pharmaceutical industry.
The pro-active role taken by CIR has helped significantly. Examples
of input from CIR include initiatives to investigate and map pharmaceutical
sciences training needs, advice on scientific sessions of EUFEPS
congresses, conferences and sciences training programmes, as well
as strong support for the New Safe Medicines Faster Project, aiming
at substantial improvement of the drug development process. |
