Taking
PAT to the Next Level
May
5-6 • 2010 •
Hotel Puijonsarvi • Kuopio •
Finland
Invitation
to Join
This is to invite you to submit abstracts and attend the fourth
pan-European Science Conference on Process Analytical Technology
(PAT), building on the success of the previous EuPAT meetings. It
will be held on May 5-6, 2010, in Kuopio, Finland, and organised
back-to-back to a Graduate School Course “Process analytical
aspects of biopharmaceutical manufacturing”, held on May 4,
2009, in Kuopio. The attendees of EuPAT4 are welcome to register
to the graduate school course and vice versa.
The EuPAT Conference Series is a unique forum for scientists and
engineers, encouraging and promoting progress in science behind
PAT and strengthening the interdisciplinary scientific discussion
that bridges between the various fields underpinning PAT.
Session
Topics of EuPAT4
The topic of EuPAT4 – Taking PAT to the Next Level –
underlines the importance of comprehensive process understanding.
At this event special attention will be paid to following topics:
• PAT in solid dosage form processing
• Novel measurement technologies
• Modelling and simulation
• PAT in bioactive production and downstream processing
Posters
and Podium Presentations
In addition to the podium lectures from recognised leaders in the
field, PhD students are given the opportunity to present their latest
advancements in PAT science. Participants are encouraged to submit
abstracts for poster presentations, whilst selected students will
be invited to give podium lectures alongside the keynote speakers.
Abstract
Submission
Abstracts should be submitted as email attachment in Word format
to secretariat@eufeps.org by March 15, 2010.
The abstract, up to one page A4, should be typed single-spaced (12
pt Times Roman font or equivalent, 2.5 cm margins, page size A4)
and should include the title, authors, their affiliations and addresses.
Please indicate which EuPAT4 session topic best suits the abstract.
The selection of oral presentations and poster presentations will
be based on the review of the up to 1-page abstracts (incl. figures)
by the Scientific & Planning Committee.

On
the EuPAT Series
The EuPAT Conference Series is a unique forum for scientists and
engineers, encouraging and promoting progress in science behind
PAT and strengthening the interdisciplinary scientific discussion
that bridges between the various fields underpinning PAT. The focus
of it is on scientific progress underpinning Innovative
Manufacturing Control and Quality by Design. New findings and results
from scientific research and technology development are discussed
in the four areas that constitute the cornerstones of sessions of
the EuPAT Conferences; Process Informatics; Process Modelling and
Understanding; Advanced Process Sensors; and PAT Based Control and
Process Integration.
EUFEPS
Network on PAT
Powering Science Based Process Understanding and Quality-by-Design
for Medicines, the Network is there to focus on PAT (Process Analytical
Technology and underpinning sciences), create and maintain a unique
and effective forum to encourage and improve collaboration, actively
contribute to education and training, and to promote innovation
in relevant sciences – all to power science based process
understanding and Quality-by-Design for medicines. All scientists
involved in PAT are more than welcome to become a member of the
EUFEPS Network on PAT (www.eufeps.org – Network and Networking).

Founded
in 1991, the mission of EUFEPS is to advance excellence in the pharmaceutical
sciences and innovative drug research, and to represent the interests
of scientists engaged in drug research and development, drug regulation
and drug policymaking. Currently, EUFEPS links 24 Member Societies
in 24 European countries. It has, in adition, around 600 Individual
Members.

Founded in 1980, ISPE has worldwide headquarters in Tampa, Florida;
an Asia Pacific office in Singapore; a European office in Brussels,
Belgium; and Affiliates and Chapters in 19 countries around the
world.

The University
of Eastern Finland is an amalgamation of the University of Kuopio
and the University of Joensuu, in joint and full operation from
January 1, 2010. There are three campuses - in Kuopio, in Joensuu
and in Savonlinna. It combines already strong areas of research
and high quality education. It forms the basis for expanded multidisciplinary
developments.
